# 1.1 Introduction

**Goal of this document:**

* Provide a thorough overview of the principles and architecture of the Retailys system.
* Explain key concepts (the system core, applications, manifests, etc.).
* Describe in detail how each part of the ecosystem (Core, Datanest, Dashboard) works.
* Demonstrate how to integrate independent applications that can be hosted anywhere.
* Explain how to write and use the manifest XML file, which is the cornerstone for configuring any application in the Retailys ecosystem.
* Present the registration mechanism for applications and the logic that connects them with the Core and with other applications.
* In a dedicated section, provide a detailed technical manual to show developers how to build their own GUI within the universal administrative interface provided by Retailys Dashboard.
